2006 Blue Tee Wannabe's vs. The Sod Busters

APPLETON, WI -- September 17, 2006 - The Eagle Creek Sod Busters were victorious over the Chaska Blue Tee Wannabe's in Saturday's First Annual "Ryder Cup" Style golf tournament at Mascoutin Golf Course in Berlin, WI. The Sod Busters earned the coveted travelling trophy by winning 12-4 in the 27 hole event. It was a crushing blow to the Blue Tee Wannabe's who made some team changes in the week before. "We saw some solid play by the Sod Busters today but we'll be ready for next year" said Andy Wittig, captain of the BTWB's. "The competition was tough. We look for more participants next year so we regain our trophy. Thanks to Blue Tee Wannabe's for participating" said Paul DeLange, captain of the Sod Busters. Next year's event is scheduled for September 8th, 2007, the 2nd weekend of the Month.

Welcome to the First annual Ryder Cup style competition between the Blue Tee Wannabe's (Monday Nights at Chaska) and The Sod Busters (Tuesday Nights at Eagle Creek). The date is set for Saturday, September 16th at 10:00 at Mascoutin golf course in Berlin. Check here to check out their website (which looks like it's still under construction.) It will be $60.00 for golf which includes cart and golf for 27 holes. We will have 4 tee-times/groupings shown below. Since the handicaps within the Blue Team (BTWB's) and the Red Team (SodBusters) are relatively close between the matches, we are not going to have handicaps come into play this year. For this first year, we decided not to plan meals. You can eat at the turn and/or after during the awarding of the travelling trophy. Hopefully all of the guys on the teams have at least one golf shirt in their closet of the right color. For some team spirit, the guys on the Blue team will wear blue golf shirts and the guys on the Red team will wear Red golf shirts. As for the format, each of the 9's will be different formats: The "White" (1st) nine will be a 2 man alternate shot from tee to green and switching the tee box every other hole (i.e. Odd holes for player #1 and Even for player #2). One score will be entered for each hole between the 2 guys on the team. The "Blue" (2nd) nine will be a 2 man best ball. The lower gross score for each hole will be recorded for one final total for the nine. The "Red" (3rd) nine will be a single man match play within each group. (i.e. Below: Laine will play Jim, Troy will play Charlie, etc.) Points will be awarded as follows: White nine - 1 point per 2 man team for Lower Gross Score within the 4some, so a total of 4 points available for the entire Blue or Red Team. (i.e. if Jim/Charlie shoot a low gross of 37 and Laine/Troy shoot a low gross of 38, The Red Team takes 1 point.) Blue nine - Same as White nine, so a total of 4 points available for the entire Blue or Red Team. (i.e. if Jim/Charlie shoot a low gross of 40 and Laine/Troy shoot a low gross of 38, The Blue Team takes 1 point.) Red nine - 1 point for each match, so a total of 8 points available for the entire Blue or Red Team. (i.e. if the Laine/Jim Match result in Laine winning 5 of the 4 holes in match play, Laine earns a point for the Blue Team and if the Laine/Charlie match results in a 4.5 and 4.5 tie, each of the guys earn 1/2 a point for their Blue and Red Teams.) **There is a total of 16 points available for this year's Ryder Cup. 4 + 4 + 8 = 16 Note: You can see we have the pairings made, so we're counting on you to be there!! Let Andy or Paul know ASAP if something comes up and you can't play (which we hope doesn't happen at this point).
